Shottisham, Suffolk. He died on 1 December 1901 at 32 Oakfield Road, East Ham.

Sam Knappett ran a small hardware shop opposite the entrance to the
amrket in Wakefield Street, East Ham. He was
killed during the war when standing
in his garden watching an air raid. Frederick Tiney, is believed to be the "Queenie" that Jim and Terry
(James' sons) talked about.

Jerimiah's father is shown as a labourer on his birth
certificate. His mother was Sarah (formerly Scopes) who
died when Jerimiah was 3 years old.
Jerimiah
used his middle name as often as not. His occupation was
dyer (at his wedding) and foreman at May & Baker Ltd; chemical labourer at James' birth
and chemist at James' wedding.
Jerimiah
made the move from Suffolk into London.
Elizabeth
used a mark rather than a signature at Elizabeth's birth and was shown
as living at Burford Road, Stratford. She also used a mark at
James birth but signed her wedding certificate.
Their
father was called Samuel who was living in Sutton,
Suffolk in 1881 with his third wife.
In 1901
Elizabeth (the mother) was shown as Head of house at 32 Oakfield Road, East Ham with
children Samuel (26) - a varnish warehouseman, Elizabeth
(23) - Shirt and Collar ironer, Emma (22) - Cotton
driver, James(18) barman spirit gate and
Ada (11).
Samuel's wife (Eliza,26) was also there with their
children Ada (4) and Charles (2)
In the early 1930's Dora (Ada's daughter) said Elizabeth lived with them at 40 Howard Road, Ilford, Essex. (Information and young Elizabeth photo from Val Elphick, who is Ada's grand-daughter). According
to Doris Meech, Elizabeth Wannell was brought up by a family other than
her own, who were fish merchants in Billingsgate. When Jerimiah died, Elizabeth, son Samuel and daughter Elizabeth, set up a laundry business in Ripple Road, Barking.
